Friday's Links to the Past - 4 Nov 11

Here are this week's links to the past:

BBC's weekly podcast:
This week, listen to James Holland explore the Dambusters raid. Don't know what those are? Listen and find out!

This week, after several years closed, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has finally reopened its Islamic galleries. Now renamed, ''New Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, and Later South Asia''
There are a total of 15 rooms which trace the course of Islam, through different civilizations. One of the finest collections in the world.

I have been reading Jesus Wars by Phillip Jenkins (will post a review when I finish.) It has gotten me thinking about early Christianity. It reminded me of an episode of the Naked Archaeologist that I saw pretty recently. A lot of the episodes are about Christianity, but this one really stuck out in my head. This is very interesting.

Pompeii!

My beloved Pompeii has been in the news recently lately. It's falling down bit by bit, but there has been some aid has been sent to help preserve the site. Thank God!
If you're like me and haven't had a chance to see it in person, the next best thing are some of the online virtual tours. Or this one. This site is great!  The internet is truly wonderful.

enjoy.
